About

Patrick Lee brings extensive experience as a researcher, practitioner, and consultant to working with a diverse set of clients both locally in the San Francisco Bay Area and around the country.

I bring over 15 years of professional experience in program and policy research and evaluation; strategic planning and grantmaking; data, technology, assessment, and accountability systems; and tool development. I am the former Associate Director of Educational Data Systems with the Stupski Foundation and Director of Research and Assessment with the Oakland Unified School District.  I'm a former instructor, having taught at multiple levels of schooling including preschool, high school, and university settings.  I earned my doctorate degree in Educational Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley.

My approach to working with clients is based on collaboration, meaning making, and an improvement orientation.  I work collaboratively with clients during all stages of a project, from facilitating initial planning and design, to ongoing formative learning, to building products and deliverables.  Our work together is not focused on a static report, but rather on generating new knowledge and insights to test hypothesis, examine emerging patterns, and refocus project goals.  An improvement framework guides my work with clients, whether it’s conducting research that yields actionable data, developing toolkits to meet the needs of leaders, or packaging knowledge to share internally or with the larger field.
